Black Friday specials

It’s almost that time again… holiday shopping time! Black Friday is the day after the United States’ Thanksgiving, the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, and has long been recognized as the busiest shopping day of the year. Retailers open early or close late (Or both!) and offer spectacular deals to entice shoppers into their establishments. More recently, stores may even open as early as Thanksgiving night.

The name Black Friday originated in Philadelphia in the 1960’s when the police department complained about the traffic jams and overcrowded sidewalks due to shoppers mobbing stores from opening to closing. The term later achieved wider use in the 1970’s. Much later an alternative explanation for the name was offered; it was called Black Friday because retailers were “in the black”, or making a profit.

In recent years, Canadian and UK shoppers have also been able to take advantage of Black Friday promotions by shopping with online retailers. Mexico even has it’s own version of the day “El Buen Fin” (The Good Weekend).

This year the busiest shopping day of the year falls on November 28.

Hacienda Tres Rios will offer amazing Black Friday specials this year, so stay tuned!
