Exciting Things Are Happening at Sunset World
It’s a new year, and exciting things are happening at Sunset World Resorts & Vacation Experiences. We are happy to report a record average occupancy rate of 85 percent in 2013 for our six properties; Hacienda Tres Rios, Sunset Marina, Sunset Fishermen, Sunset Royal, Ocean Spa and Laguna Suites. The 2013 occupancy rates were comprised of 62 percent vacation club stays and 38 percent guest stays.
Have you ever wondered where our guests are from? In 2013 40% were from the U.S., 26% from Mexico, 22% from Latin America, 11% from Canada and 2% from other parts of the world.
Recently Orlando Arroyo, CEO of Sunset World shared that the company is working on the opening of a new hotel in the Tres Rios ecotourism complex, the second phase of the Hacienda Tres Rios Resort & Nature Park. Completion is anticipated for the end of 2014.
In keeping with Sunset World’s mission to promote a healthier lifestyle and maintain a sustainable vision, we continue to cultivate Ethos, Farm in the Jungle, the innovative project 21 miles from Cancun where organic honey, fruits and vegetables are grown for our properties’ restaurants and exotic ornamental flowers are grown for our hotel lobbies.
This year’s Sunset World Resorts & Vacation Experiences destination event schedule will include: The 4th Annual Hacienda Tres Rios Triathlon. Olympic and youth categories have been added to the sprint format this year (300 participants registered in 2013); The 2nd Annual Sunset World Pop Culture Fest celebrating the roots, folklore and traditions of Mexico; The Mayan-Tibetan Festival, combining two unique cultures and highlighting ceremonies of purification and search for spiritual tranquility; The 7th Annual Charlie & Friends Half Marathon in Cancun featuring 21 km., 10 km. and 5 km. walking and running races and a 3 km. baby carriage race; and the 3rd Annual Sunset Boat Parade, kicking off the Christmas season in the Mexican Caribbean (15 boats and 400 people participated in 2013).
