Travel Packing Tips

Traveling is exciting and fun. From the moment that perfect vacation spot pops into your head to the planning essentials, it is an exciting journey. Part of the travel journey is packing. But even the most seasoned traveler, however, can forget a thing here and there. We’ve compiled a brief list of tips for packing, things you should prepare, and not forget.

Vacation Packing Tips and Checklist

Tip #1: Place your passport, air tickets, travel insurance documents, contact numbers and any other important information in a pouch or bag that’s easily accessible, and carry it with you on your flight. Once you’ve arrived at the resort, place these important documents in the room safe.

Tip #2: Keep a photocopy of your passport in a different location, such as purse or briefcase. Also, scan it and carry a copy in a laptop.

Tip #3: If you expect to arrive at the resort before the designated check-in time, pack your swimsuit, sunscreen, flip-flops or sandals and other beach gear in a carry-on bag. If your room isn’t ready when you arrive, at least you can still hit the beach or pool. The front desk will store your suitcases for you until you can check in. Check in at Tres Ríos is at 3:00 p.m.

Tip #4: Pack a nice set of clothes for dinner. Most resorts have a dress code for their dinner restaurants.

Tip #5: Bring a light jacket or sweater—sometimes evening breezes off the water can be cool. It also rains in paradise.

Tip #6: Sunscreen with a high SPF is a necessity in tropical climates. Consider bringing a hat or visor as well, and don’t forget the sunglasses.

Tip #7: If you plan to visit our Nature Park, we highly encourage you to pack insect repellent.

Tip #8: Scuba divers must remember their diving certification cards.

Tip #9: Don’t forget to pack your camera with plenty of camera film or memory cards and extra camera batteries.

Tip #10: Pack an extra pair of contacts or glasses.

Tip #11: Put prescription medicines in your carry-on bag, in case your checked luggage is delayed.

Tip #12: If you want to stay connected to home or work, carry your laptop. We offer in-room wireless Internet access as well as Wi-Fi in several areas throughout the resort. Always carry your laptop onboard your flights.

Tip #13: A few things you don’t need to worry about packing are towels, irons or hair dryers, as these items are available.

  1. We will be arriving April 2-14, and have our son & wife coming along. Our son’s 35th birthday is April 4th, so wondered what we could arrange for a special birthday dessert at that evening meal? I also need to have Milton Rosberg (in sales and with Admiral Yacht Club) help us arrange for a 4 hr yacht rental for Monday or Tuesday of that week, and also some jet ski rental time..could be on the same day. Please poass this on to Milt (tall bald guy) Thanks so much. We look forward to returning to our timeshare. (Our contract # is 32-1-722 with Yacht Club, & 24-1-12626 with Sunset Group, member since 17/09/2006)(Our Cancun Sunset Club VIP guest cards are # 16049 & 12626)

  3. Hi there,
How would we go about being able to rent jet ski’s while staying at your resort? We would like to know if this is possible before booking our stay.
    Thank you!

    • We do not have jet skis at the resort, but you can find jet skis for rent on the beach in Playa del Carmen.
