Hacienda Tres Ríos joins the climate change initiative by turning off its lights for Earth Hour 2010, Saturday, March 27th at 8:30 p.m.

March 19th, 2010- Hacienda Tres Ríos announced that it will join the global efforts for actions on climate change. On March 27th at 8:30 p.m., all non-essential lights at the resort will be turned off for Earth Hour 2010, as a pledge to support the planet.
As part of the event, the resort staff will present a traditional Mayan show with only the beat of ancient Mayan drums and natural light. No artificial sound or lights will be used and the show will be lit with torches and moonlight. All guests of Hacienda Tres Ríos will be invited to enjoy the entertainment and a special candlelight dinner at our Hacienda Grill restaurant during this important global event.
The Earth Hour initiative is a conscious effort around the world in support of actions on climate change and the establishment of a cleaner, safer, and more secure future. Already in its fourth year, Earth Hour is the biggest worldwide event for actions on climate change with more than 105 countries involved.
Since its conception, Hacienda Tres Ríos supports sustainable tourism in Mexico, ensuring the conservation of the mangroves, dunes and tropical jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is recognized as a leader in sustainable tourism in the Mexican Caribbean by Mexico’s highest authorities in environmental protection. In addition to the resort’s membership in sustainable tourism organizations, the resort is proudly certified by Green Globe and recognized among its peers as an ecological resort.
The growing list of supporting corporations, organizations and individuals is committed to raise awareness to the climate change issue and create a cleaner, more sustainable future.
We invite you to see the world in a whole new light: stand up, take responsibility and lead the way towards a sustainable future.
