On January 6th, 2010, Hacienda Tres Ríos became one of the most distinguished Mexican Caribbean resorts worldwide.
In just its first year, the resort became a role model for sustainable tourism in México and the Caribbean. It became one of the top choices for travel professionals in Europe and the United States, while still capturing the affluent Mexican community, who selected Hacienda Tres Ríos for weddings and honeymoons, or a luxury vacation.
Next year, the resort projects an increase in its primary tourism markets with a 30% increase of Americans, a 25% increase of Mexicans, and a 50% increase of Europeans.
Hacienda Tres Ríos will be fully functional this year upon completion of its spacious convention center, sophisticated spa, and luxurious La Herencia Residence Club, substantiating its title as a world-class resort.
In 2009, Hacienda Tres Ríos was honored to sponsor various international events, hosting renowned entertainment and sports celebrities, with the intention of strengthening the Mexican Caribbean as an international vacation destination.
Cancun-Riviera Maya International Film Festival: Hacienda Tres Ríos welcomed actor Danny Glover, who starred in Lethal Weapon and 2012; movie director, Aaron Woolfolk; and Mexican actress, Ana Claudia Talancon; including several other artists.
Celebrity Golf Invitational: Actors Chris Tucker, co-starring with Jackie Chan in Rush Hour, and Carl Weathers, starring as Apollo Creed in the Rocky films, and sports celebrities attended and stayed at the resort for this event. Other distinguished actors were also present: Andres Palacios, Adriana Barrazza (Academy Award nominee for her film, Babel), Tony Dalton, and Marimar Vega.
Maxim Girl 2009: Fifty-two candidates competing for the title of Miss Spain; former Spanish Beauty Queen, Patricia Yurena Rodriguez; eight international contestants competing for the title of Maxim Girl 2009; and renowned dancer, Liz Vega, participated in photo shoots at the resort.
World Travel Awards: The awards gala, hosted at the resort, was held in México for the first time with over 350 tourism leaders, government officials, and international celebrities in attendance. The resort received two World Travel Awards: (1) Leading Green Hotel in México and Central America, and (2) Leading All-inclusive Resort in México and Central America.
Other Awards: The resort received four ARDY awards in 2009 from the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), which recognizes resort excellence: 2 silver ARDYs for (1) Resort Architecture and (2) through Brand Tango, Advertising Campaign; and 2 gold ARDYs for (3) Logo Design and (4) Green Initiatives Promotional Materials.
International Forums: Hacienda Tres Ríos showcased its sustainable tourism and conservation practices for the World Travel Market in London, the International Tourism Fair in Spain, and the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin, due to its recognition by the Mexican government as a national role model.
Associations: The resort proudly participates in these distinguished professional associations: World Heritage Alliance, Rainforest Alliance, Sustainable Travel International, and Green Globe International, from which it received a Green Globe Certification for sustainable tourism practices.
Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association: The resort was selected by this association, with 850 member hotels from 36 countries, to educate interns about quality service, social tourism, and environmental conservation.
For these reasons and many others, 2009 was an excellent year for Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort. We anticipate an even greater 2010 by continuing to expand our extensive and conscientious environmental practices, first-class service, and introduction of additional eco-friendly facilities.
