Cancún’s tourist zone rests on a sandbar that stretches around the Nichupté Lagoon, which is almost 7.5 miles long and just over 3 miles wide. Many hotels and restaurants face toward the lagoon’s white sand beaches and emerald waters. The lagoon is the perfect area for water sports such as windsurfing and jet skiing. The waters are also perfect for scuba diving since the fairly shallow waters let in a lot of sunlight. On some of the lagoon’s beaches, visitors can also find some good fishing.
