Rainforest Alliance

Hacienda Tres Ríos has been a member of the Rainforest Alliance Program for sustainable tourism best practices since July 2008.  The program has existed for eight years at a local, regional, and international level to assist tourists and conservationists with the implementation of best practices in environmental management.

The Rainforest Alliance is an influential worldwide organization with two headquarters, one in Costa Rica and one in New York.  Their programs provide assistance to tourism companies in their efforts to protect the natural environment and contribute to the well-being of local communities, while still maintaining profitability.

In their efforts to help Tres Ríos raise environmental consciousness, the Rainforest Alliance assisted them with induction seminars, training for on-site workshops about the implementation of best practices at the resort, and technical assistance on a series of diagnostics to identify sustainable tourism opportunities, following criteria of the Certification Network of the Americas.
