Associations

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance was founded in 1986 to address the tragedy of rainforest devastation and related species extinction.  Their aim is to promote standards for sustainability that conserve wildlife and wetlands, and to simultaneously ensure the well-being of workers and their communities.

Green Globe Certification

The Green Globe Certification was established in 1993 for the travel and tourism industry.  As the premier worldwide certification label for sustainable management and operations, their aim is to introduce and strengthen environmental and cultural criteria and corporate social responsibility according to international best practices.

Sustainable Travel International

Sustainable Travel International was founded in 2002 to provide education and outreach services in the travel and tourism industry.  They promote sustainable development and responsible travel via programs for travelers and travel companies to contribute to the environmental, socio-cultural, and economic values of the area.

Distintivo H

Distintivo H (or Distinctive H) was founded in 1988 by the Ministry of Tourism to promote healthy tourism in México through the implementation of exceptional food safety and quality standards for food service providers.  It enforces recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) for food service provider hygiene, and safe food and beverage storage, transportation, preparation, and services.
